Mental ill-health is Australia’s third-largest burden of disease and is estimated to affect half of Australians during their lifetime, in 2018-19 $10.6 Billion was spent on mental health, with over 4.3 million receiving prescriptions for mental health-related issues. Since the outset of the COVID pandemic, government and researchers have predicted a rise in mental health diagnosis, with an increased demand for mental health services, and are mapping out the best way to prevent the predicted rise in the upcoming months. It is clear that to decrease the burden of mental health, we need proactive solutions rather than reactive ones. Swiss 8 is a veteran-led mental health promotional charity, we are disrupting the current reactive model of mental health care and making it proactive. Our veterans have lived experience in dealing with disconnection, loss of identity, loss of purpose, anxiety and depression. Swiss 8 is taking this lived experience to create tools for veterans, and the general public, that assist in building a healthy, high performing lifestyle. The digital tools aid the user to build healthy habits around 8 key aspects of holistic health, which are Movement, Nutrition, Mindfulness, Sleep, Personal Growth, Discipline, Tribe and minimalism. All donations will go towards keeping our proactive mental health tools free for all who need them.
