Founded in 1986, Support Our Aging Religious (SOAR!) was created by a group of committed lay Catholics in the United States who sought to provide religious congregations with funding to meet the needs of aging and infirm members. Today, SOAR! continues to distribute funds that address the immediate practical needs of congregations and ensure the safety, comfort and dignity of the aging religious Sisters, Brothers and Priests. SOAR! also engages in public campaigns to highlight the serious retirement needs confronting elderly religious through publications, social and digital media, and fundraising initiatives. SOAR! has raised its profile and developed a national network of concerned individuals that have a collective interest in preserving the dignity of aging and infirm religious. This visibility has led to more support from donors which has increased the organization’s capacity to respond to requests from congregations in both the regular grant cycle and during times of emergency or crisis. As a result, SOAR! has become a trusted partner for congregations of all sizes throughout the United States
