Spirit of the Dog Rescue is a volunteer run organisation, founded in 2004 by behaviourists on a mission to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of dogs. We consistently maintain a ‘quality of care over quantity of dogs’ approach to ensure each individual has a tailored, dog centred rehoming journey and the ability to integrate into their lifelong forever home at their own pace. Each dog has their own ‘Wellbeing Team’ made up of qualified professional volunteers who meet their needs from every angle, coordinating care plans, creating shortlists from which the dogs choose their own homes, supporting adopters through the lengthy matching process and remaining by their side post adoption. Our aim is to open a small but impactful centre which we are working tirelessly to raise funds for, in the meantime we rent kennel space and utilise experienced, trusted foster placements from which to carry out our work.  We also strive to support dog caregivers in our community with a food bank, low cost microchipping, education opportunities and behaviour support.
