Founded in 1964, the South Florida Youth Symphony (SFYS) has proudly served the South Florida community for over six decades. The organization began as a small ensemble of young musicians and has since grown into a regionally recognized, award-winning program that provides accessible music education and performance opportunities for children and young adults.

The SFYS’s core mission is to foster personal growth, discipline, teamwork, and cultural enrichment through music. The program is particularly vital in areas like North Miami-Dade County, where public school music education has been drastically reduced or eliminated.

Throughout its history, SFYS has produced numerous distinguished alumni—many of whom return as instructors, conductors, and mentors. Some have enrolled their children and grandchildren, creating a multigenerational legacy of musical excellence.
