Seymour Helping Hands: Building a Stronger Community

Seymour Helping Hands (SHH) works to bring meaningful programs and projects to Seymour that support individuals, families, and our community as a whole. Through programs like New2U, gently used donated items are given to community members who can benefit from them at no cost, while also helping keep useful items out of local landfills. Our Little Thing Bags provide small hygiene or diaper-and-wipe packages for individuals experiencing temporary hardship, transients, and families who may need a little extra support. Through our partnership with the American Red Cross, SHH also helps provide and install free smoke detectors in local homes, promoting fire safety and helping families stay safer. Our G.A.P. (Generating All Possibilities) program brings educational, art, and music opportunities to our community, creating opportunities for learning, creativity, and connection.

Community Volunteerism

Strong communities are built when people come together to help one another. SHH believes that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and volunteers are an important part of making our programs possible. We invite community members to commit just 12 hours a year—about one hour a month—to supporting SHH programs and projects. Together, these small acts of service create a lasting impact and help make Seymour an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Connecting People to Community Resources

Sometimes life brings challenges and people may not know where to turn for help. SHH works to bridge that gap by helping community members identify available resources and connect with organizations that can provide assistance. Through our Community Resource Center, we strive to provide information, guidance, and a starting point for individuals and families seeking help. Our goal is simple: no one in our community should have to face a difficult time without knowing where to turn.
