About us

SAINTS was started in December 2004 after volunteers at other animal shelters saw many senior animals spending their last days in a shelter or pound. From the time we opened our doors, the number of animals in need has been astounding and ever-growing. When SAINTS moved into it’s first location it started with 16 cats, 12 dogs and 2 rabbits. Now we have between 110 and 130 animals on site and another 40 in permanent foster care. Local pounds, large shelters, veterinarians, and rescue groups rely on us. We deliver innovative approaches in health management, day-to-day care, housing, and living for our special residents. What makes us unique is we take the philosophy of human palliative care (addressing the mind, body, and soul) and apply it to animal medical care. Our veterinarian bills top $200,000 annually. Most of the residents arrive at SAINTS with huge vet bills. A large percentage continue to require medical attention long after they have arrived. We are therefore always looking for innovative and creative ways to ensure money continues to flow in so that we can care for the SAINTS.
