About us
Rita's Rescue aka Rita's Cat Rescue is located in the small town of Beatrice, Nebraska. Rita's Cat Rescue serves as a state licensed no kill shelter providing care and a loving environment for homeless cats, including chronically ill cats to live out their lives. It provides a cage free living environment for cats, with plenty of open area for exercise and play. Medical care is provided to these cats the same as our own pets. The rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit. The rescue was founded by Rita, an animal lover, and has been basically a one person operation with the help of very part time employees and volunteers. Rita's Rescue cares for these cats with not only shelter, but medical attention including spaying and neutering. Like all rescues and shelters, costs have increased in not only food, but cleaning supplies, cat litter and veterinarian services. On average there are 65 to 70 cats with kittens when necessary that the local shelter is short on room. We call the cats residents, because RCR is their home. Even with higher costs, the rescue finds a way to continue, because rescue is what we do.
