About us
Reckoning, Inc. is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to examine the legacy of slavery in America, and to create ways for communities to engage with this information through research projects, media productions, educational curricula, online content, and other means.
Our initiatives include the podcast series The Reckoning: Facing the Legacy of Slavery in America, the Kentucky U.S. Colored Troops Project, the Kentucky Black Ancestors Database, the Kentucky Enslaved Church Records Project, the Kentucky Enslaved Oral History Collection, and free K-12 curricula for both Social Studies and English/Language Arts educators. Our latest project is a new documentary series, The Copperhead Conspiracy, which will debut in Fall 2025.
