Paws Giving Independence NFP
About us
We have been an all volunteer organization, with no paid staff since 2008 so any grants received go directly to the costs of training the dogs and the supplies they need like vests and bracing harnesses. We train service dogs for individuals with a variety of disabilities, mainly wheelchair/mobility and medical alert as well as facility dogs for schools and medical settings. We do our own fundraising so we can place our dogs free of charge to our recipients. Many of our dogs come from area rescues so our motto is "Saving a life to change a life". We have student training programs with students at Bradley University and Illinois State University. Some of our dogs also train at the Logan Correctional Center. For over 12 years we have been able to place well trained service dogs thanks to grants, community partners and public donations.
