Olympic Peninsula Humane Society was founded in 1947 with a mission to protect homeless, helpless and suffering animals throughout Clallam County.

Over the years, the support of our community has helped us expand our services, improve our facilities, and create safer, brighter futures for thousands of animals.

Today, we continue that mission through compassionate care, dedicated staff and volunteers and a community that believes every animal deserves a chance. In 2025 our Barkhouse which houses dogs was renovated, deep cleaned and new safety measures installed. However our county needs at least another 100 kennel runs for dogs and about the same amount for cats. We recieve on average 75 surrender inquiries per month. Daily we recieve 5-15 calls regarding lost and found pets that need temporary housing until reunited with owner.

Currently are community has a surge in homeless, lost and abandoned pets. Clallam County Animal control no longer provides funding for our organization to help house, reunite or rehome these animals in desperate need. In fact all shelters are at or over capicity. This results in Animal Control severly handicapped, as they have no place to put strays, pets that are lost, or pets that are abused or neglected. We are reaching out to all organizations providing grants. We need immediate funding to better serve our community.
