We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing unwanted, abused and neglected horses and burros. In 2007 Sixteen Hands started out as a sanctuary, where horses with no other option could come to heal mentally, emotionally, and physically. We offered a place for them to live out their lives. In 2019 we started an adoption program which enables us to rescue even more horses. We still provide sanctuary to those who need a place to live out their lives, but now we also place some horses in homes with a family of their own.
