Mission: Needs Beyond Medicine is a Utah based nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer on individuals undergoing treatment by providing financial assistance for non-medical expenses.
In addition to the Relief Program, the organization conducts community outreach and educational initiatives promoting early detection and cancer awareness.

Vision: To ensure every cancer patient, regardless of geography, has access to the vital resources they need to focus on healing.

The Relief Program
- The Need: Cancer treatment often leads to "financial hardship”—where basic survival costs become impossible to meet.
- The Action: We provide $575 grants to adults in active treatment to cover rent, mortgages, utilities, and groceries.
- The Goal: Distributing 180+ grants annually to Utah residents in need.

Educational Outreach
- The Action: We host at least 6 annual community seminars focused on cancer risk factors and early symptoms.
- The Impact: Empowering the public with knowledge to seek help early, when cancer is most treatable. All seminars are free to attend.

- Karen P. Brown Relief Golf Tournament (July): A premier community event dedicated to funding the mission of Needs Beyond Medicine.
- canSURVIVE (November): Our signature photo gallery stroll and fundraiser celebrating survivor stories through professional portraiture.

Strategic Objectives
- Forge Strategic Alliances: Strengthening our referral network with healthcare providers to reach more patients.
- Real-World Learning: Our Internship Program provides healthcare and social work students with advocacy, presentation, and leadership experience.
- Karen P. Brown Memorial Scholarship: A $1,000 annual scholarship awarded to nursing students who embody the compassion and dedication of Karen P. Brown.
