Habitot Children's Museum is a 28-year old discovery museum serving families with young children, 0-5, in San Francisco's East Bay, with over 1.5 million visitors since opening More than a place to entertain, Habitot helps new parents and caregivers raise curious, creative, and confident children through immersive, hands-on exhibits, sensory and open-ended art and maker programs, parenting support and education programs, as well as classes, camps, and multicultural events. We believe in investing in young children's learning though play during the critical first five years of life when the brain is rapidly developing, and in supporting parents as their children's first teachers. Keys to Habitot's mission to serve a board and inclusive audience are dedicated programs with free or discounted access for children with special needs and their families, unhoused families, teen parents and formerly incarcerated parents, and many other under-served families. Currently, following its eviction from its museum space during the pandemic, Habitot is operating as a mobile museum, with its signature exhibits on wheels, reaching neighborhoods in all parts of the East Bay with day-long events. Ongoing efforts are underway to secure Habitot a new and permanent home. We hope that My Giving Circle will support that effort.
