Cancer of Many Colors (CMC), a 501 (c)(3) organization assists cancer patients with basic living expenses and emergency needs. CMC is headquartered in Lexington, SC & provides resources/support for cancer patients throughout the state. CMC was created to assist cancer patients in their recovery by reducing/alleviating stress related to financial issues. This allows the cancer patient to be focused on his/her treatment with the goal of reaching health/wellness. Individuals, regardless of the type of cancer they are battling, can access these resources. CMC began to offer resources to specific communities in the Midlands beginning 2015. Funding from this grant will be used only for requests from Lexington County residents, who, collaborating with social workers from local hospitals and oncology clinics assist CMC in determining need. CMC is committed to assisting cancer patients in their recovery by reducing/alleviating stress related to financial issues like mortgage/rent, food, utilities, & other basic living expenses. Eliminating stress allows the cancer patient to focus on their treatment & getting healthy again.In the wake of COVID-19 and increasing levels of inflation, prices of everything from gasoline to food continue to increase at historic levels. Added onto those already stressful factors, a cancer diagnosis, with its accompanying costs, can adversely affect not only the patient, but also their entire family. This project provides strength and support for these individuals and their families, bringing the cancer survivor through the process with an added sense of hope and security. This helps, in its small way, to contribute to the community's stability and well-being.
