National Council of Jewish Women New York (NCJW NY) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW NY continually strives for social justice by championing the needs of and improving the quality of life for society’s most vulnerable citizens – women, children, families, and the elderly. Since 1894, NCJW NY has been fostering women’s leadership and addressing the city’s inequities through both direct social services and advocacy for systemic change. Our three-pronged approach of community-based social services, education, and advocacy directly impacts the lives of 35,000 New Yorkers annually, with the help of nearly 400 volunteers. NCJW NY serves New Yorkers from all walks of life, from all racial and religious backgrounds. Social service programs include: • Hunger and nutrition services, providing groceries and hot meals to New Yorkers in need • Support and enrichment services for isolated seniors • Children’s literacy and school readiness programming for economically disadvantaged children Advocacy and education programming in the areas of: • Reproductive health, rights and justice • Combatting sex trafficking • Exploring the lives of Jewish women past and present through films, conferences, and other events
