Mutts With A Mission (MWAM) is an ADI-accredited nonprofit organization that trains and places highly skilled Service Dogs with Veterans and first responders who have service-connected or line-of-duty disabilities. These Service Dogs help restore recipients’ independence, confidence, and freedom in daily life.

In addition to Service Dogs, Mutts With A Mission trains Facility Dogs for law enforcement agencies and United States Navy ships. Facility Dogs support the individuals they work alongside by encouraging engagement with mental health resources and are task-trained to help mitigate symptoms associated with anxiety and PTSD.

All Service Dogs and Facility Dogs are provided at no cost to recipients, aside from a small application fee.

Service Dogs in Training live with volunteer puppy raisers for approximately two years. During this entire training period, MWAM covers all costs related to the dog’s care, including veterinary care, food, supplies, and training expenses. The organization provides weekly training classes and supervised outings to ensure every dog meets the highest professional standards.

Prior to placement, MWAM conducts a two-week Transfer Camp with each recipient, focused on building a strong working partnership between handler and dog. MWAM covers hotel accommodations, most meals, and structured community outings during this period. Additionally, Service Dogs in Training regularly participate in weekly military command visits to help boost morale of our nation's heroes.
