The Mountain Gorilla Conservation Society of Canada (MGCSC) is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to protecting gorillas and conserving biodiversity by investing in the people who protect wildlife. Guided by a One Healthapproach, we recognize that the health of wildlife, people, and the environment are interconnected. By strengthening one, we strengthen them all.

Our mission is to build long-term conservation capacity by providing scholarships and educational opportunities for veterinarians working in some of the world's most important conservation landscapes. Through advanced education and professional development, we help develop local expertise that protects gorillas, chimpanzees, and wildlife while improving the health and resilience of surrounding communities.

The MGCSC scholarship program supports African veterinarians pursuing advanced education in wildlife health and One Health. Our scholarship recipients attend leading universities, where they gain the knowledge and skills needed to address emerging infectious diseases, protect endangered species, strengthen biodiversity conservation, and improve the health of both wildlife and the people who share these ecosystems. Upon completing their studies, they return home to apply their expertise where it is needed most, creating lasting conservation solutions led by local experts.

Beyond scholarships, MGCSC raises awareness of the importance of wildlife conservation through public education, community engagement, fundraising events, and strategic partnerships. We believe that lasting conservation is achieved by empowering the people who live and work closest to wildlife and by fostering collaboration across conservation, public health, veterinary medicine, and local communities.
