Chisholm Foundation for Children
About us
Chisholm offers three primary programs dedicated to supporting children:
1. Residential Program: Situated in Halifax, this program extends assistance to children under the age of 12 facing severe circumstances such as neglect and abuse. It focuses on fostering their self-worth and providing them with a nurturing environment.
2. Community-Based Literacy Program: This initiative targets children from primary to grade six who are reading below grade level or have been diagnosed with learning differences. Through tailored support, it aims to enhance their literacy skills and academic performance.
3. Monthly Group Sessions for Adoptive Parents: Chisholm facilitates monthly group sessions for parents approved for adoption by the Department of Community Services. These sessions offer guidance and support to parents awaiting the opportunity to welcome a child into their home.
Chisholm's overarching mission is to provide children with a secure and supportive environment while equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to thrive within their community. Through these programs, children are nurtured to become resilient and well-adjusted individuals.
