Healing Minds and Souls is located in the heart of North Nashville, where we are dedicated to “Bringing trauma-informed care to the community through resources, education, and building relationships to develop healthy and holistic communities." Our project has been created to develop a healthy and holistic environment by providing educational classes, tangible resources, and useful skills for our community and especially the aging in Tennessee. HMS is an age friendly community where we offer Sunday classes that involve listening to stories from participants to better understand how we have experienced neighborhood life and how we can work to make a positive difference where we live. We pay particular interest to the emotional and everyday needs of our aging neighbors in North Nashville. We understand that the 37208 is the most challenging zip code in the United States of America- highest incarceration rate, and food desert; therefore, we provide 500 meals weekly for our seniors and others. The work is done largely by dedicated volunteers who drive the meals to their homes. While we identified more than 50 of our neighbors 60 years and older who need nutritious weekly meals, access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Additionally, we help to defray cost of necessity items; so, individuals can shop for food, receive personal hygiene products, cleaning products, childcare needs for their grandchildren and family members. To continue to be an inclusive environment we have created a space for the ageing to expand on its knowledge of how to effectively use technology to carry out daily life activities.
