The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is the largest independent national organization devoted to melanoma. Committed to the support of medical research in finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma, the MRF also educates patients, caregivers, physicians and the general public about prevention, diagnosis and the treatment of melanoma. The MRF is an active advocate for the melanoma community, helping to raise awareness of this disease and the need for a cure. Through the generosity of our community, the MRF has funded over $18.5 million in research grants, hosted over 200 patient symposia and educated over 800 advocates. Our work on Capitol Hill has also created a new funding stream for melanoma research through the Department of Defense which started at $10 million, in 2020 increased to $20 million and in 2021, we will be advocating for $35 million.
