About us
To create an inclusive society where people living with disabilities can live fulfilling lives, access opportunities, and actively participate in all aspects of community life.
MISSION
To empower people with disabilities through a range of philanthropic support services, social engagement opportunities, and spiritual guidance that foster community integration and self-determination.
The Little King’s Movement arose from a small group of people in Brisbane coming together in 1967 initially seeking to work, support, and interact with people with Cerebral Palsy. The purposes of this movement then broadened to include people with all forms of disability. Today we remain a private association of Christian faithful (our definition under Canon Law) whose purpose is to advance social or public welfare by providing support to people of all ages who have varying levels and types of disabilities by undertaking various activities including, social, community and spiritual engagement activities. While we have our roots in the Catholic faith we are genuinely ecumenical and welcome all folks to Little King’s.
We don’t do clinical support, we’re not an NDIS provider, we just look to build community for folks with disability of all ages. To that end we currently run some fairly simple functions on the last Friday and Sunday of each that involves a bit of food (including hot lunch), optional Catholic Mass at our chapel, and a bit of light entertainment including music from the 4MBS singers on occasion. Every Tuesday we have craft activities where Members and their carers come in to make items for the shop or work on their own projects. We also have a Thrift Shop that we like to think is priced for the economically vulnerable!
