The Laois Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Laois SPCA) is a volunteer-run charity dedicated to preventing cruelty and improving animal welfare throughout County Laois (and surrounding areas that don't have a rescue). Every day, we respond to calls about animals in need, providing urgent veterinary care and safe shelter in the loving foster homes of our volunteers.

What your support makes possible

Emergency rescues and veterinary treatment for sick, injured and abandoned, and animals.  Our vet bills never end!  Even though all the vets we work with discount their rates for us, the bills are still huge!

• Safe foster placements and rehabilitation until animals are ready for adoption.

• Subsidised spay/neuter programmes to reduce unwanted litters and prevent suffering (and save us jobs!).

• TNR - trap, neuter and return. We trap (humanely) stray and feral cats, get them to the vet for neutering and return them to their home.  No more babies, no more spreading disease, less volunteers running out in the dark and rain to pick up neonates and try catch mammy as well.

• Community education in schools and local groups to promote responsible pet ownership and kindness to animals.

Every euro goes to the animals as Laois SPCA is run entirely by volunteers. Donations go directly towards veterinary bills, medication, food, transport, and sheltering costs — where they’re needed most.  We have a great team and your donation makes it easier for us to continue to do a great job.
