Since 2020, Kits to Heart has distributed 7,000 cancer care kits to patients and caregivers nationwide and has provided 170+ free virtual art therapy workshops. Our motivation comes down to solving one core issue: how can we care better? The idea to start with cancer care kits came from receiving a care package left on my bed upon walking into my hospital room for my third-line treatment in Baltimore. It was from a former patient who was doing well again, and knowing that someone had thoughtfully assembled such a gift inspired me to pay that kindness forward. We mobilize thousands of local volunteers, donors, and supporters to assemble and deliver cancer care kits and blankets, while working directly with licensed art therapists to facilitate therapeutic art workshops. Through this cause, we aim to reduce health disparities and expand access to essential tools and resources. We partner with small businesses to promote clean, non-toxic, environmentally responsible products. Patients and their loved ones may also request kits to be shipped directly to them.
