Friends of PRAS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Friends of PRAS is dedicated to saving the lives of our communities’ vulnerable animal population and serving the animals’ best interests. While Friends of PRAS and the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter are two different entities, we work very closely together. The shelter is funded by the city jurisdictions to provide things like staffing, food, basic veterinary supplies, operations and maintenance. However, sometimes the shelter is not eligible for support from philanthropic organizations because it is not recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Friends of PRAS bridges the gap to secure the most beneficial resources for the shelter. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Friends of PRAS can provide additional funding and support to the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter where needed.
