Fostering Sweet Dreams provides new beds, mattresses, and bedding to children in Oklahoma who have been removed from unsafe environments and placed in protective or kinship care. Because Oklahoma Human Services requires that every child in state custody have their own bed before placement, our work directly supports timely, safe placements for children in crisis.

By providing these essential resources quickly and efficiently, we make it possible for grandparents and relatives to take in kinship children, helping them remain in familiar surroundings and keeping siblings together whenever possible. Beyond foster and kinship care, we also serve families rebuilding stability after homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, parents working toward reunification, and youth aging out of foster care. If a child in Oklahoma needs a safe place to sleep, Fostering Sweet Dreams strives to meet that tangible, immediate need.

A bed is more than furniture, it’s a foundation for safety, rest, and healing. Adequate sleep is essential to a child’s physical growth, emotional regulation, and academic success. Children who sleep well are healthier, more focused, and better equipped to cope with trauma and stress.

Our cornerstone project, “Rest Assured: New Beds for Oklahoma Children in Need”, ensures that every child we serve receives a brand-new bed, mattress, and bedding. Since 2022, we have transitioned fully from donated beds to new resources to ensure safety, dignity, and comfort for every child.

Since our founding in 2016, Fostering Sweet Dreams has provided essential resources to children in 69 of Oklahoma’s 77 counties, as well as to a handful of children in neighboring Northwest Arkansas. More than 50% of resource requests come to us from Oklahoma County. To date, we have served more than 8,307 children statewide, including 1,066 in 2024 alone. Demand continues to rise each month, reflecting both the depth of need and the trust our partners place in our mission to ensure that every Oklahoma child has a safe, dignified and comforting place to sleep.
