About us

For over 20 years we have worked with prisoners and their families. Although we started serving prisoners country wide it quickly morphed to working mainly with Wisconsin prisoners as the need is so great and the system incredibly corrupt. We communicate directly with prisoners and their families, advocating within the system and going to legislators, media and the courts. At present we are launching a media  project in order to educate the public on who they are locking up , conditions, and the incredible waste of their money . The system has gone foul and all those in power are too scared to appear "soft on crime" to help change it . To counteract the disinformation out there, we are giving each prisoner who wants it their  own blog post as part of the while asking the media we know to interview families. it is in fledgling stage: www.ourprisonersspeak.org.

Where what money we have goes:

1)The most popular and needed program is our DEstress project where we buy hobby items and office supplies for the prisoners. We have long supplied envelopes etc but started the DEstress project when the suicide attempts and deaths skyrocketed during the pandemic and have been amazed at the response - the need far outweighs anything we can do on our own- We have no paid staff and are using our own money with a few donations . All are volunteers and we have no spare hands to do fundraising although we have a gofundme page that mostly languishes.. The work brings equal amounts of heartbreak and joy and we form lasting friendships with the the prisoners and their families we serve.

2)We have a legal project where we pair prisoner litigators with prisoners who have gone as far as they can, often with FFUP's advocacy help , thru the broken complaint system, and have been unable to get health care or have other issues. For this project we buy supplies needed and legal guidance materials , often off the web. There has been a concerted effort to close the prisoners off from public ,making effective letters to the prisoners impossible and leaving phone calls with prisoners one of the only ways to communicate. We are negotiating and may soon have to take legal action.

3)The final heart break after working with individuals to help them cope with the constant abuse and mostly no treatment or training is that most prisoners are released with no support and are the swept back into the system for rule violations- non felonies. So the second place where funds are mostly needed is our "Release Project "-raising funds for rentals and creating a "safe place to land " .

we have a main web: www.prisonforum.org and our campaign web is :www.ourprisonersspeak.org. there are also about 30  other blogs accumulated through out the years

our gofundme page is:https://www.gofundme.com/prisonforum

We need volunteers to help with blogs and spreading our gofundme page.
