About us
Can you imagine having to make the impossible choice of seeing your child suffer from malnourishment, or giving them up?
Every year in Tanzania, 12,000 families surrender a beloved baby due to death in childbirth, poor nutrition, or poverty. They desperately want to keep them, but simply can’t afford the formula and baby-friendly food needed to keep them alive. One week’s supply of formula milk would cost the average Tanzanian family their entire week’s wage. It’d be like going into a Woolworths in Australia and paying $1,200 for one tin. As a result, 30% of young Tanzanian children suffer from malnutrition, forcing their families to make an impossible choice: watch their child starve or give them up to save their life. Our Tanzanian partners have found the solution; a 12-month program built for women, providing nutrition for her baby, crisis items to meet basic needs, weekly health & skills training, capital to set up a business, and a community around her. In just one year, women transform their families to be self-sustaining.
So it’s all about a hand-up, not a handout.
Income creation for women.Nutrition for their babies.Families together, forever.
