About us

Fathers and Mothers Who Care (FMWC) is a pioneering Los Angeles County nonprofit with nearly three decades of proven impact, founded in 1997 to serve emancipated foster youth and expanded over the years into a comprehensive reentry, social services, and workforce development organization reaching individuals and families across South Central Los Angeles, Culver City, Leimert Park, and Compton. Unlike traditional case management models, FMWC deploys trained "Life Stabilizers" who deliver trauma-informed, wraparound support that addresses the full spectrum of barriers faced by justice-involved individuals — from housing and employment readiness to mental health, vocational training, and family reunification — through deep community partnerships with institutions such as LA County Department of Mental Health, HOPICS, JVS, the America's Job Center of California (AJCC), the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB), the Galaxy Free Clinic, and Volunteers of America. Anchored by clinical oversight from licensed social work professionals, a proprietary HIPAA-compliant data management system, and a robust fiscal infrastructure recently upgraded to Oracle NetSuite, FMWC combines the agility of a community-rooted organization with the accountability and transparency demanded by its county and institutional funders. By connecting participants to job training, credentialing, employer partnerships, and career pathway navigation alongside its full suite of stabilization services, FMWC ensures that economic self-sufficiency is not an afterthought but a cornerstone of lasting reentry success — all grounded in the organization's founding DNA: an unwavering belief that stable, loving support is the most powerful catalyst for transformation, making FMWC not merely a service provider, but a surrogate family for some of Los Angeles County's most underserved residents.
