About

The Canadian Animal Task Force ("CATF") is a volunteer-driven, registered charity that provides care to companion animals in order to assist with community safety and improve the health and well-being of animals.

Guided by the communities we work with, we provide mentorship, guidance, and resources for companion animal populations. This includes consulting and training on bylaws, humane enforcement, licensing and registration, plus programs for sheltering and re-homing impounded or seized dogs, education, structured pet food program, spay and neuter procedures, and more.

Our team of licensed veterinarians, veterinary technologists and volunteers provides compassionate and exemplary care and support.

Together, We Help Animals

At Canadian Animal Task Force, our work often begins with people — and leads to better outcomes for animals.

While we aren’t a traditional rescue organization, we regularly support animals in urgent or at-risk situations. We collaborate with local rescues, shelters, and Indigenous community partners to ensure animals in need are placed with the right groups for ongoing care or adoption.

Through our programs — from large-scale spay/neuter clinics to crisis response and support for pet owners — we often encounter animals that require temporary care, emergency intervention, or safe placement. In these moments, we act as a connector: stepping in to provide help and working with trusted partners to find the right path forward.

We also occasionally adopt out cats through our Feral Friends program — a network that places unsocialized or semi-social cats in safe, rural environments where they can thrive.

Our approach to rescue is rooted in prevention, partnership, and compassion. Whether we’re helping one animal or addressing the needs of an entire community, our goal is the same: to reduce suffering and support a more humane future — for all.
