 Margie’s Safe Space is A First Nations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation and is listed as such with the tax office, ASIC and ORIC. And has been approved by both the register of ORIC and the Prime Minister’s Office, Public Benevolent Fund.All funds from the charity is to be used to fund the operations, programs, events, staff training and services that we will be providing for my mob (all First Nations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander)As this is part of my Cultural Obligations and Protocols, aStaff for the charity will receive free training thru Scholarships, Traineeships inline with the services they will be working in within the charity. This is apart of our core principles of the charity to build lives, create futures The objectives of the Margie's Safe Space is to assist in the relief of poverty, sickness, destitution, helplessness, distress, suffering, and misfortune, among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, through the process of supporting social and economic development.The corporation aims to:•operate community enterprises and build a strong financial base for community development activities and infrastructure.•promote community development by acting as a resource for the community and stakeholders in the areas of education, health, housing, employment and welfare to the community.•act as a clearing house to facilitate the exchange of information and skills, participation and maintenance of community development activities, community services, employment and housing for the community.•creating links for people transitioning from prison back into community.•provide prevention and rehabilitation services to community. •provide services to reduce youth suicide and crime prevention activities.•domestic violence support by providing the skills and intervention and support services to help rebuild lives..provide mental health counselling services and support.•work with community and government departments to address deaths in custody.Yarning (counselling and providing support) to those in high risk of becoming substance abusers and by supporting families of those that are substance abusers to the effects of drug and alcohol substance abuse, and to start to start a new positive path in life.It has been learnt how greatly the link between drug and alcohol abuse is linked to past trauma, generational trauma, mental health suicide, crime, domestic violence and lack of affordable housing
