While Carer support remains integral to our service, our organisation has grown and developed significantly, incorporating a model of Living Well. This includes education and support, planning and therapeutic services, and meaningful activity in partnership with our community. We recognise the need for services to be responsive to people with dementia as well as those who support them. Dementia Canterbury's services cover all of Canterbury including the Ashburton region, North Canterbury, and Kaikoura, as well as the West Coast.

• Dementia Canterbury is a registered charitable trust supporting more than 3500 clients, their families and care givers with free, person-centred programmes, support, and education; we receive over 500 new referrals every year and this is increasing.

• It is estimated 7500 people in Canterbury have dementia, and with an aging population, and younger onset of the disorder, this is expected to triple by 2050.

• Dementia Canterbury covers Christchurch and Banks Peninsula, and north to Kaikoura, south to Ashburton and through to the West Coast.

• While we are affiliated to Dementia New Zealand, we are an autonomous charity with all money raised by us staying in the area we service to support our clients.

• While Dementia Canterbury receives some funding from CDHB contracts, we must fundraise for more than three quarters of our operational budget.
