Deafblind UK
Deafblindness is a growing condition in the world, with 52 million people affected. 400,000 of those in the UK alone. Deafblindness is caused by conditions such as Stroke, Diabetes, Parkinsons, Sickle Cell, Covid 19, Premature Birth and ageing. More young people than ever before are being fitted with hearing aids because of lifestyle choices. Its a ticking time bomb, and as a society, we are not equipped to deal with this.
Deafblind UK helps people right through their journey, with coming to terms with their diagnosis through our mental health support programme to the practical side of getting a job, education, going to University, or just trying to get out of bed each day. We help with getting connected through our social and technical programmes, and even provide respite holidays. Family and friends are supported too, as deafblindness can affect the whole family.
We need your support now more than ever. People with deafblindness have lost their confidence over the pandemic years and need our support to feel confident to get back out there! When you rely on touch to know where you are, but everything you touch, could give you a deadly virus, it has been incredibly isolating for even the most confident.
Just £5 allows us to contact someone with deafblindness to relieve their loneliness and give them hope for a life of meaning. Deafblindness could affect any one of us, please help us help those that need us.
We add Feature Views for every £ you pay.
