About us
Good social and emotional resilience is important for all children. Helping deaf children and young people to develop this is at the heart of Lollipop’s thinking. Lollipop deliver a variety of free age/ability appropriate group activities for children and young people aged 0-25 in York and North Yorkshire who have any degree of deafness from mild to profound. The group activities, by nature, provide a deaf peer group to help individuals build their confidence, self-esteem and to promote a sense of belonging. We also offer: Support for parents, small group support, targeted group support, support for siblings, signposting and information, parent/peer buddy matching, skills-based workshops and d/Deaf role models.
Lollipop also raises awareness of deafness and its implications amongst the wider community through the delivery of deaf awareness training for groups and individuals, education for children, young people and parents, education for local societies, schools and businesses,
