The mission of the Chasterus Foundation is to preserve, protect, and continue the work of artist Charles S. Russell, including his landmark art installation, East Jesus. We operate a free outdoor art museum focused on sculpture, installation, and assemblage art created from reused, repurposed, and recycled materials on 30 acres near the Salton Sea; we are the only art museum in Imperial County. We provide seasonal artist residencies to disabled artists who help to operate the museum.
