Minnesota Federated Humane Societies was first established as a nonprofit organization in 1987. Since that time, we have worked tirelessly towards fulfilling our core mission: To uphold and enforce animal welfare laws of Minnesota. Minnesota Federated Humane Societies is the only animal welfare organization authorized under Minnesota statutes to train and appoint state agents in all Minnesota counties and to conduct investigations into cases of animal abuse and neglect across the state. In 1987, the Minnesota legislature passed a law that allowed our organization to be established. We now have state humane agents in many counties across the state and work with sheriff's offices, police departments, animal control departments, county prosecutors, veterinarians, and other nonprofits to protect animals who are abused, neglected, and victims of cruelty. The work we do is essential. Without our organization, our dedicated team of state humane agents, our staff, and other professional partners, our state would be a harsher and crueler place for all of us, not just animals. Join us in our mission and in our effort to make Minnesota a safer place for animals.
