The mission of Charlee’s Basket is to create hampers for families that have experienced the loss of a child during pregnancy, or in the days after birth known as stillbirth and neonatal death. Beautifully presented, modern gift baskets filled with all the essentials for the parents during their hospital stay, plus some non-essentials to take home for the meant-to-be mum and/or dad. Little gifts, flower seeds and children’s books explaining the situation are also included for siblings. The products that comprise Charlee’s Basket are primarily Australian, sustainable, cruelty-free items that consider and benefit our environment, whilst still being as nourishing and sensitive as possible. Why Charlee’s Basket is different? • We are care based. • We are authentic. Charlee’s Basket is led by myself Shaye Woodhouse, a mother who has experienced first-hand what it is like to lose a baby. The basket has been designed around this authentic experience and knowledge. • We are unique. There is no other provider of baskets of gifts for grieving parents in Australia. Providing Charlee’s Basket to families may be a small act, but we believe it will be a valuable offering of acknowledgment and an act of compassion to grieving families. A small gift to families that may receive no acknowledgment of their child - a gift to reassure that these families are not alone. All donations we receive go to filling each basket and to the running or the organisation. The Charlee’s Basket brand helps to promote awareness of the need for further education around prenatal death, and provide better support networks for those going through this heartache.
