Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association Cover Photo
In 1983, a group of patients, families, physicians and researchers gathered with the singular goal of eradicating Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a degenerative neuromuscular disease that damages the long nerves to the hands and feet of some 3 million people worldwide. Recognizing that it needed to provide help for today as well as hope for tomorrow, the CMTA launched some 70 local branches to provide support for patients, Centers of Excellence where patients can be treated by experts and participate in research, a Youth Program, a wide variety of publications and webinars and a website chock full of patient information.
