BestPals Animal Rescue Center is a no-kill shelter that will take owner-surrendered and transfers from overcrowded shelters. Started in 2013, we have increased our ability to take cats and dogs in year over year. As often as possible, we will find foster-homes for our pets. Each pet is fully vetted and treated by Mapleview Animal Hospital as soon as possible after they arrive in our shelter.

Working with adopters to ensure success, we let adopters know that we will provide support throughout the animal’s life and will always take a pet back if circumstances require it. We offer opportunities for schools, community groups and special needs groups or individuals who want to know more about shelter animals, their needs, care, and rehabilitation.

The rewards to BestPals, our adopters and our community are great. Once a person adopts from us, they refer us to their friends and family. The experience of fitting the right pet in the right home is important to us and is greatly appreciated by the adopter. We allow potential adopters a foster time period and never rush an adoption. Our return ratio is less than 1%. We work hard to keep our shelter and foster animals happy, healthy, and ready for adoption. Our volunteers and adopters know that Michelle Kenat, our Executive Director, is passionate about animal rescue and educating the community about reducing the number of animals who enter shelters. The confidence in our work in the community is clearly expressed through BestPals receiving the Best Of the Best Official Community’s Choice Award for non-profit organizations 5 times.

Each adoption is a success for us and has a story to tell. The joy we feel when we rescue and find a home for a cat or dog is indescribably and worth all the effort we put into making BestPals Animal Rescue Center a safe and loving place for homeless animals.
