ACMS reaches out to the local community through concerts and performances that are open and free to the general public throughout the year. These concerts have directly benefited over 500 people in our community this year and we had 350 students registered at our music school. We have been operating for 36 year in July of 2020. Performing is a key ingredient in developing and nurturing the young musician, and ACMS offers students several opportunities to perform. The society’s highlights are student performances at the Christmas Concert, Honours Concert, Winter and Spring Performances, Festival, Elementary & Middle School visits Orchestra concerts, Symphony at the Park at Mill Lake and a Year-End Concert. There are also more intimate performances in the Community such as at the Holmberg Hospice House and Seniors Homes. The ACMS Concerts & Performances for the Community cover three main purposes as outlined below: To provide wonderful and exciting musical performances for the community from Abbotsford, Mission and other local communities to enjoy at no cost. To offer an opportunity for music students from ages four to eighty to gain valuable performing experience to grow and showcase their musical talent to the local community To keep music and the arts alive for the general public to enjoy for many generations to come. The community gaming grant has been essential for ACMS to be able to afford to offer concerts and performances for the local community. Events include venue rental, insurance, advertising, decorating supplies, refreshments, awards, coordinators, accompanists, choreographers, sound technicians, programs and posters. The detail to provide a successful and enjoyable event for the public takes many hours of in-kind donations (time and expertise) as well. The financial support from Community Gaming is essential to continue to provide Concerts & Performances for the Community.
