We are a non- profit organisation dedicated to the re-homing of unwanted dogs. Starting as a group of volunteers over 14 years ago we became a registered charity in 2002. We do not believe in destroying a healthy dog. All dogs are accessed to gauge their temperament and personality, and we make sure we have all this info before a potential owner provides a forever home. We also organise fund raising events such as organised dog walks, car boot sales and bag packing which goes towards taking care of the animals and to provide veterinary care. At CCDR, we are passionate about the dogs we care for and our aim of the charity is simply to re-home unwanted dogs with loving families. We have developed partnerships with several agencies to raise awareness on responsible ownership and identifying animal cruelty. We also help members of the public with reports on alleged acts of cruelty and neglect, working with public services to ensure the safety of the dog concerned. We are now reviewing NI policy on what the charity can do to support the development of animal welfare in N.Ireland, as we strongly believe that, 'every dog deserves a second chance'.
