Black Women for Wellness(BWW) serves Black women, girls, and families across California by addressing the structural, social, and environmental factors that impact health and wellbeing. Since our inception in 1997, BWW works at the intersection of reproductive justice, environmental justice, civic engagement and community wellness to ensure that our communities have the resources, knowledge and power needed to make informed decisions about their health and lives. 

Our work recognizes that health disparities are deeply rooted in systemic racism, economic inequities, and environmental injustice. Through culturally responsive programs, community education, leadership development, and policy advocacy, BWW works to dismantle the barriers that limit access to equitable healthcare, safe environments, and economic opportunity.

BWW serves community education, and organizing opportunities that build knowledge and collective power. Our programs address issues such as maternal and infant health, reproductive health access, environmental toxins, beauty justice, civic participation, and food security. We host workshops, conferences, trainings, and community conversations that equip residents with information about their rights, health options, and the policies that impact their lives.

BWW actively invests in communities across South Los Angeles and San Joaquin County by building leadership within Black communities through programs that train residents, youth, and community leaders. We educate these community members on how to actively participate in advocacy, civic engagement, and peer to peer education, to strengthen their ability to shape the decisions that affect their collective health and wellbeing. Together, our work supports healthier communities while building long-term power to transform systems that have historically marginalized Black women and families.
