About us

Grapevine Center  empowers peers to mentor, inspire and support individuals and families in recovery from Mental Illnesses, Drug & Alcohol dependencies, and Homelessness.  Resources and assistance are available to all low-income individuals who are in need.

Grapevine Center employs some 50 people, most of whom are in recovery or have received mental health or drug & alcohol services in the past.  Some have jail records but make good here.  Some had not worked for long periods beforehand.  Grapevine helps anyone in need. Many are veterans, homeless, people recently released from jails, many are off their meds, and unable to cope with their lives.  Some are old with no hope of supporting themselves.  All are low-income.

Many have no family or any who talk to them.  Loneliness is a huge exacerbator of mental illness and stability.  The drop-in center counters this effect, helps to lower suicide rates, lowers recidivism rates, and reclaims lives.

Grapevine's flagship, the drop-in center, served almost 600 people last year, 77 of whom were homeless.  Everything at the Grapevine is free.  Several other related programs are also operated out of this center.

The Drop-in Center provides a safe, comfortable, recovery-oriented environment where people can share camaraderie with peers who understand.  Free coffee is served all day, as well as frequent free meals, help with resources and guidance to stabilize their situations and get people back on their feet.  The Center provides stimulating activities, field trips, and celebrates every holiday.

Grapevine's Warmline program offers an additional lifeline for anyone in Butler County who is feeling stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, lonely, etc.  A  Warmline 'friend' can  talk them through their loneliness, isolation, anxiety attack, or stress.

Certified Peer Specialists are like life coaches who  take peers by the hand and help them achieve their recovery goals, whatever they may be, whether it be housing, education, a job, or just developing a social support network.

Our Moving Program assists this very mobile population.

In addition, we operate two quality control monitoring programs out of the center.

Grapevine provides regular community meals on Sundays and on one Saturday per month.  Frequent free meals are provided during the week.

Grapevine has showers, telephones, and computers which their members can access.  This enables people to look for work and housing. Other material resources provided are clothing, sleeping bags, food, and help to access community resources.
