Bichon Rescue Brigade (BRB) is an all-volunteer group whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place Bichon Frise and Bichon Frise mixed dogs into responsible and caring homes – as well as providing a resource for public education on the breed and responsible dog ownership. We are located in Southern California and focus our efforts on dogs in need in our area. BRB advocates for Bichon Frises and their friends who have been lost or abandoned, or whose owners could no longer care for them. All BRB pups are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered. We are a foster-based rescue, and our pups are placed into loving foster homes while we find their perfect forever family.

Bichon Rescue Brigade is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (Tax ID: 45-2708305) and relies solely on donations to care for the dogs we rescue. We have no paid volunteers. Donations made to BRB are tax-deductible and donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. (Please consult your tax advisor.)

BRB focuses its rescue efforts on dogs with special medical needs, last chance dogs not typically available to the public for adoption. Medical treatment costs BRB more than $100,000 per year. Many of our dogs have been hit by cars and suffer from fractured hips, pelvis and/or legs. Surgery to repair such injuries easily cost $1500-$3000. Most dogs need dental cleaning — $350, plus extra for extractions. Spay / neuter can cost $200 or more. Dogs with severe skin issues such as mange can easily cost $1000. Just basic treatment – spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, flea treatment — for most dogs costs BRB from $150-$300 depending on where treatment is provided. It adds up and our adoption fees cover only a fraction of the cost for most of our rescued pups. Our Fur-Ever Friends have a “Home for Life” with Bichon Rescue Brigade. Dogs in this program are less likely to be adopted due to disability, long-term medical needs and/or age but who are still able to enjoy the remainder of their senior years with a good quality of life. These pups are placed in loving homes with loving families, but Bichon Rescue Brigade retains full responsibility for their care. Fur-Ever Friend care may include medical care, medications, high quality diet, supplements and grooming.
