For well over a decade BCO has been helping those in need in the Calgary Foothills areas and in 2016 we expanded to Lethbridge area .With the current situation and the recent employment crisis in our province, there are increased requests for assistance. We organize clothing drives and added essentials drives, working with local companies for donations. In 2020 alone, with the communities help, Calgary and Foothills region provided monthly contributions over 2000 pounds, while Lethbridge collected 1000 pounds in donations for the year. December 2020 was the third year BCO Foothills provided supplies for Christmas meals, serving 49 families, including 204 individuals and 108 children. For the first year, Lethbridge served 5 families including 55 individuals 14 children; 10 seniors and 2 men’s group homes totalling 24 individuals. Thanks to donations, these families prepared their own Christmas Feast together and 122 children received presents. Recently Foothills County added "HeadStrong", a mental heath aspect for business owners in partnership with Wellness Innovate and the Government of Alberta. Our long term goal is to provide transitional housing with the support systems required for those in need to confidently move forward into their new lives.
