The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is a 501c3 organization founded in 1971 to champion the interests of women in science so they can achieve their full potential. Women in male-dominated STEM environments often face gender bias, harassment, and other barriers that men do not. AWIS raises awareness of these issues and advocates for systemic change. Members receive valuable career resources, leadership opportunities, scholarships, and public recognition of their achievements. Our community fosters a sense of belonging and gives members inspiration, encouragement and lessons learned so that they can remain and succeed in science careers.
