“A musical sisterhood” is how many Austin Girls’ Choir choristers describe their choir! With 34+ years of service to girls age 8-18 in the Austin metro area, this group not only delivers a great musical education, but also builds teamwork skills and provides a strong sense of community and terrific formative life experiences. Younger girls practice twice per week and receive music theory and vocal/aural skills training; advanced singers provide peer mentoring and also sing in an elite ensemble. All girls learn and perform a wide range of genres in 3- to 6-part harmony and multiple languages. Tuition is on a sliding scale so that there is no financial barrier to participation.

At the insistence of its choristers, Austin Girls’ Choir maintained standards and kept singing through the pandemic despite a dramatic reduction in size. Rebuilding has been challenging, as there has been a lot of turnover among the portion of the population we serve during the past five years, and we particularly welcome support in publicizing recruitment and funding financial aid scholarships! We know from tracking our alumnae that support of AGC singers is an excellent investment in future community leaders, and in the energy they will bring in growing opportunities for the next generation.
