AADP is dedicated to diversifying the stem cell registry. People who have been diagnosed with blood cancer can be cured with a blood stem cell transplant. The hard part is finding the right donor. People of color are underserved in the stem cell registry. Black/African Americans have only a 23% chance of finding a donor in the registry. The Asian community at large has a 41% chance, Hispanic/Latinos have a 46% chance of finding a donor and surviving. However, Caucasians have a 77% of finding a donor and surviving. This disparity must change and it starts with AADP. We educating the community about the need for more registered stem cell donors and show how easy it is to save a life if you match with someone in need.
