AnimalKind is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) animal welfare organization and shelter based in Hudson, NY, working to strengthen the natural bond between humans and animals with programs and services to enhance the well-being of all.

Humanely reducing the number of unwanted pets who are born without homes. Our spay/neuter efforts have been designed to assist low-income, underserved communities. We want to ensure everyone has access to spay/neuter services. That’s why we provide this surgery for free or at a low cost to families who could not otherwise afford it. We accept proof of low-income for our no cost ($1.00) spay/neuter clinics.

We engage in TNR to humanely control community cat populations at many sites in Columbia and Greene counties…and beyond. Homeless, free-roaming cats often live in colonies outside, where they are fed by their neighborhoods. With TNR, we humanely trap them, sterilize and vaccinate them against rabies, and then return them to their original site. They are also painlessly ear tipped so everyone knows they’ve been fixed.

AnimalKind provides emergency and preventive medical service for pets in need. Our goal is to keep families together with their beloved pets – and keep those pets healthy and well cared for. Low-income pet owners in financial distress can find help at AnimalKind when their cats or dogs need medical attention. Proof of low income is required to qualify for free or low-cost medical care, including SSI/disability, veteran, military, SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, HIV/AIDS, or an emergency situation (domestic violence, eviction, hospitalization, incarceration, rehabilitation, or fire).

Our community knows they can count on AnimalKind to help when no one else will. We are always called when cats and kittens are in life-threatening situations and need immediate care

• Who do the police call to help cats that have been abused or tortured?• Who gets called to help a houseful of abandoned cats left behind after a foreclosure or eviction?• Who gets the call to rescue neglected cats from a hoarding situation?• Who do neighbors call to save the lives of stray cats hit by cars?• Who do people call about community cats dying of starvation or illness? We do whatever it takes to save the lives of cats and kittens: crawling under cars, climbing up trees, entering abandoned houses, digging through hoarding situations, giving medical care to the sick and injured, hand-feeding the starving., bottle-feeding newborn orphaned kittens. Our goal is to prevent suffering and save the life of any feline in need.
