White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue is a Virginia-based 501c3, Accredited equine organization with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS).  The rescue is totally funded through public donations and applied-for grants.  All staff, including Board members, are unpaid volunteers. We take Appaloosa horses (and other breeds) who are in desperate need and who have no other safe haven, from owners who have age/financial/medical problems and can no longer keep their beloved friends. Most have been good servants to their families and deserve a loving retirement.  Horses that can be adopted go out on a strict contract, and those that cannot be adopted will stay at the rescue and live out the remainder of their lives in safety and dignity.
