The Alpha-1 Association of Australia (AAA) is a health charity that aims to look after the interest of those Australians affected by the genetically inherited health condition Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD). It's estimated that 1 in 9 Australians carry a defective gene responsible for the condition, which affects lungs (lower lung emphysema), liver (cirrhosis), skin (panniculitis) and other issues.
